SURFACE TENSION

Surface Tension examines the impacts of climate change and the audience, brought to witness a future reality, can question the inertia surrounding scientific data that documents change.
Sinuous lines evoking water, the beauty of surfaces and captivation in the present moment, beguile the tension in the work. Inherent to the structure are measurements visualising government modelling to assess expected risk from sea-level rise.
The sculpture is responsive to the environment - overcoming stasis. It oscillates gently in the breeze, mimicking water’s subtle movements and reflections, just at a new level. And so the work also invites us to look beyond the surface, be aware of changes, what causes them and to react.

Surface Tension was featured in the Harbour Sculpture Exhibition, Woolwich NSW July 2014
